Welcome to Real Ale.

Glass of beer

The thing I like most about Real Ale is there is such a vast range of flavours,so if you keep drinking them you will eventually find some real ale you like. THE FUN IS FINDING YOUR FAVOURITE.

What is Real Ale ?

Real ale is a type of beer defined by its traditional production.

Also known as "cask conditioned" beer; the fundamental distinction between real and other ales is that the yeast is still present in the container from which the beer is served, although it will have settled to the bottom and is not poured into the glass.

Because the yeast is still alive, the process of fermentation continues in the cask or bottle on the way to the consumer ensuring a fresh and natural taste.

A Mecca for Real Ale fans.

If your traveling to the Lake District at any time and you love real ale then you must call in at a village called Ings which is on the main route to Windermere, just 3 miles outside. At Ings is the Watermill Inn, a mecca for real ale fans which also has it's own micro-brewery !

The Watermill Inn also has accomadation which means you can have a good drink then stay overnight and recover before setting of and exploring many other real ale pubs that Lake District has to offer.

The Watermill is a very popular traditional Lakeland pub.

Beers I enjoyed at Gower, South Wales.

Beers I enjoyed at Gower, South Wales.

The beer I had the most and enjoyed while on holiday in the Gower region was OSB from Tomos Watkin Brewery (I also brought home a few bottles). Ffos y Ffin Brewery bottles was also in my selection of beers I brought home with me , as I couldn't't find it at the pubs I visited.

The Gower is a good area for Pubs with Real Ale, but I couldn't visit some as they didn't allow dogs inside the pubs. One pub worth a visit is "The Joiners Arms" at Bishopston which has It's own brewery (Swansea Brewery).

Cumbria Brewery's.
